The aim of the joint project is to develop an intelligent assistance system specific to the building trade in combination with lightweight and flexible sensor technology and to integrate artificial intelligence methods. The assistance system is to be used in practice for individual stress assessment on the construction site and, by integrating the stress data into the work planning of the trade, enable personalized prevention of stress for the craftsman.

The Center for Cognitive Science (CCS) at TU Kaiserslautern is pursuing two main objectives within the framework of BauPrevent:

1. the development and testing of methods for estimating physical strain using a lightweight sensor system with a focus on the recording and evaluation of body postures, in particular the spine using IMUs (upper arms if necessary, neck if necessary).

2. derivation of initial solution approaches to increase the acceptance of preventive, health-related IoT technologies in the skilled trades by integrating theoretical models of health behavior and technology acceptance and validation in the target group of finishing trades.

Through a process-accompanying evaluation, which includes essential elements of participatory technology development, the CCS aims to create the basis for an accepted and practicable technical solution. As part of the trials, technical parameters as well as usability and acceptance factors are therefore collected and taken into account in the iterative system development.
