Prof. Dr. Shanley Allen President of the IASCL

Prof. Dr. Shanley Allen, Professor of Psycholinguistics and Language Development in the Faculty of Social Sciences, was elected on July 17, 2024 to a three-year term as President of the International Association for the Study of Child Language (IASCL) during the organization’s triennial meeting in Prague, Czech Republic.

IASCL has as its main goals to encourage the systematic study of children’s language development, and to foster international and interdisciplinary cooperation in this field. IASCL members study language development from newborns to adolescents, speaking or signing all languages of the world, whether monolingual or multilingual, including typical development and language disorders. Primary activities of IASCL include hosting a triennial international conference, publicizing child language resources through its website and social media, and promoting research and transfer activities in the international child language community. IASCL was founded in 1972 and has some 800 members from more than 50 countries on six continents.
