Language Aptitude in L2 Learners
How can we best determine which individuals are likely to do well in learning a second language? In this project we investigate language learning aptitude and its correlation with scores on the German language exam required for university entrance exam – Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH). We also test for correlations with working memory using forward and backward digit span tests. One group of participants are native speakers of Kinyarwanda, while the other group includes native speakers of a variety of different languages.
