Psycholinguistics in Flanders 2021 Online
The PiF Organizing Committee is happy to announce that the Psycholinguistics in Flanders 2021 Conference (postponed from 2020) will be held online on May 19-21 (with the Pre-conference workshop being held on May 19th).
All talks and posters that were accepted for presentation at PiF 2020 are automatically accepted for presentation at PiF 2021 without a further review process. The automatic acceptance does NOT include a presentation by the same authors on a different topic or set of data. We may issue a call for new presentations, depending on the number of spaces available in the program after previously accepted presentations are confirmed.
Prior to the conference all presenters will be asked to submit a pre-recorded video of their talk (15 min) or poster (5 min). The talks will be streamed during the scheduled session and followed by a live Q&A session with the presenter and audience. During this time presenters should be online and following the broadcasting. Each poster will be allocated to a live poster session in which the presenters will have a Q&A session open to the audience.
All presenters must confirm their participation at PiF 2021 by February 10th 2021 at the latest. More details (including the deadline for submitting the videos as well as the allowed formats, and information about the conference platform) will be available later. We are looking forward to learning about your research at the PiF 2021 virtual meeting.
Given the online format, there will be no registration fees.
The Conference
Psycholinguistics in Flanders (PiF) is an annual conference that is dedicated to the field of the psychology of language. PiF started in 2002 in Belgium and has quickly gained relevance in Europe thanks to the growing participation of international presenters and attendees. Although it is most often held in Belgium, it is occasionally held in neighboring countries. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern is honored that its researchers have been selected to host the conference in 2020, together with a committee of two other universities in the UniGR: Université de Liège (Belgium) and Universität des Saarlandes (Germany).
The conference is targeted to PhD students and post-docs in psycholinguistics broadly defined, offering them a friendly but professional environment to present their research, network with other early-career and more senior scholars, form new collaborations, and develop future career plans. Senior scholars also attend and provide feedback, but first authors and presenters must all be junior scholars. We welcome contributions from researchers working in psycholinguistics from different perspectives (psychological, neurocognitive, linguistic, computational), interested in various aspects of language such as reading, text comprehension, word processing, learning, speech production, speech perception, etc. The quality of presentations is high, given that they are selected on the basis of anonymously reviewed abstracts.
Pre-conference workshop
On May 19th, a pre-conference workshop will be held, open to all conference attendees. The workshop will be titled Understanding the Publishing Process, and you can register and find out more by clicking on Pre-conference workshop on the menu above.
