Through its research and teaching, the department focuses on processes of human thought and action, as well as issues related to social coexistence. In doing so, it strengthens the interdisciplinary connection with the technical and natural science disciplines at RPTU and, thereby, RPTU as a whole. The department has been extremely successful with this focus, as evidenced by a rapidly growing number of externally funded projects and rising student enrollment. In addition, the department’s courses also provide education to students from other disciplines—such as students in socioinformatics. A low student-to-faculty ratio enables productive learning in small classes and fosters individual interactions between students and faculty members.
