Social science issues are approached from different angles at RPTU in Kaiserslautern. In addition to the disciplines of political science, sociology and social science methodology, the research groups of education, philosophy and psychology provide additional perspectives on social contexts.

What do you need to bring with you?
With the exception of the sports degree program—which requires a successfully completed aptitude test—all other bachelor’s degree programs currently have no admission requirements. Above all, however, it is important that you have a genuine interest in social science issues. A good command of English is important for your studies. Social science is the study of society, human behavior, and thought. It derives its insights through the use of empirical social science methods and statistical techniques. This requires working with mathematical models and methods. In seminars, exercises, and tutorials, you will practice applying these methods to answer important social science questions.
The master’s programs in Integrative Social Science and Cognitive Science have specific admission requirements: For Integrative Social Science, a bachelor’s degree with a final grade of at least 2.7 and a good command of English are required. For Cognitive Science, a bachelor’s degree in biology, Computer Science, cognitive science, linguistics, patholinguistics, physics, psycholinguistics, psychology, or the empirically oriented social sciences is required. Courses are primarily taught in English, so applicants must also demonstrate very good English proficiency.
