The university awards scholarships as part of the PROMOS program of the DAAD. The scholarship is awarded by an internal university committee. In particular, you can apply for a travel allowance and a grant towards living costs, the amount of which varies depending on the country. There are two application deadlines per year. Information on PROMOS can be found on the ISGS website. If you have any questions about PROMOS, please contact Ms. Islekyay at ISGS here.
In addition to PROMOS, the DAAD offers many other programs to support students and graduates during their stay abroad. The "Annual Scholarships for Study Stays Abroad" program, for example, is particularly relevant. You must apply directly to the DAAD for these scholarships. In some cases, there are country-specific programs. Search the DAAD scholarship database for suitable offers: to the database.
If you have good academic achievements and social commitment, it is always worth applying for a scholarship from one of the major foundations. Another option is the Deutschlandstipendium, which is also awarded at TU Kaiserslautern. As a rule, you will also receive scholarships during your stay abroad.
Even if you do not receive BAföG in Germany, it may be worth applying for BAföG abroad, especially if you have not received any funding for a short time. BAföG abroad also helps with travel costs, any tuition fees and health insurance costs. The BAföG offices have divided responsibilities according to federal state. The application for Brazil, for example, must be submitted in Bremen. Information on BAföG abroad can be found here.
