Welcome to the RPTU Cognitive Science Graduate Program!
We are delighted to welcome you to the Cognitive Science Graduate Program at RPTU. Beginning a new academic journey is both exciting and challenging, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
We encourage you to make full use of the academic resources, research opportunities, and events offered both within the program and across the university.
Enrollment and Course Registration
You do not need to worry about immediate course enrollment. Registration for courses remains open until late October, giving you ample time to plan your schedule.
Please note that you can only enroll in courses after you have received your student ID and activated your university account.
Location and Campuses
Our graduate program is based on the Kaiserslautern Campus, and it will continue to operate there. However, you also have the opportunity to take courses offered at the Landau Campus. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of these additional learning opportunities if they fit your academic interests and schedule.
Welcome Event
A welcome event for all new students will be held at the beginning of the semester. This will be a great opportunity to meet your peers, faculty members, and administrative staff, and to receive important program information. Further details (date, time, and location) will be communicated via email.
Orientation Course
All new students take part in the course “Introduction to the Study of Cognitive Science.” This course provides essential guidance on course registration procedures, academic opportunities, and other key information to help you get started smoothly. It is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the structure of the program, available resources, and the university environment.
Buddy System
To support your transition into the program and student life at RPTU, we offer a Buddy System. After admission, you will be contacted by your assigned buddy—an experienced student from the program—who will assist you with the next steps and answer any initial questions you may have. This system is designed to help you settle in both academically and socially.
Examinations
All official examination dates and formats will be announced well in advance. You will receive detailed information once the exam schedule has been finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
Please note that enrollment must be completed in person, on campus, before the semester begins.
If you do not finish your enrollment on time (for example, due to visa delays or other personal circumstances) you cannot start the program in the current year.
The Master’s program in Cognitive Science only starts once per year, in the winter semester. This means that if you miss the enrollment deadline, you will need to wait until the next winter semester to begin your studies.
We strongly recommend that all admitted students start their visa application process as early as possible and plan their travel to ensure timely enrollment.
