Our partner universities

We have concluded partnership agreements with the universities listed below. Studying at a partner university is linked to an Erasmus scholarship and you do not have to pay tuition fees. You will receive organizational support on site and can improve your language skills in the local language in language courses. In the following overview you will find all the universities with which the department has an agreement. The overview also shows the subjects covered by our contract. Selection by subject

Below we present some selected subject-specific information. For a complete overview, please refer to the presentation of partner universities by country. Please note that it is usually possible to take individual courses at other departments, even if we do not have a contract for the subject.

I study...

You can choose from a limited range of courses in English at the universities of Prague and Ljublijana (winter semester only). At the universities of Nice, A Coruna and Madrid, you can attend courses in the local language. It is possible to study in French at our partner university at the Université des Antilles in Guadeloupe-Martinique.

If you would like to focus on this subject, please take a look at the following universities in particular. There is a contract with the Autonoma in Madrid for educational science. There is also an English-language program there. There are also explicit agreements on educational science with the University of Kaunas in Lithuania and the Universitatea de Vest in Timisoa in Romania.

You can attend courses in political science at the following universities: Universidade da Coruna, Masarykova Univerzita in Brno, Högskolan Dalarna in Falun, Universitates Babes-Bolyai, by arrangement at the University of Florence, at UNIVERSITATEA DE VEST DIN TIMISOARA, at Istanbul Technical University and at the German University in Istanbul. There is also a limited offer at the Université des Antilles. You can study political science in German at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg .

Freemover

If there is no suitable university for you, you can also organize your stay abroad yourself as a so-called freemover and apply independently to your university of choice. Please note that in this case you will not receive a tuition fee waiver and will not be eligible for Erasmus funding.

Application process

Applying to study abroad with Erasmus is easy! Studying abroad at one of our partner universities via the EU's Erasmus program has many advantages. You do not have to pay tuition fees and you receive a monthly grant. You apply for the study place and the scholarship at the same time.

In order to make your stay abroad as successful as possible, we recommend that you first take advantage of the advice offered by the department and the ISGS. Ms. Noll at the ISGS will advise you on questions of financing and organization. Dr. Dannwolf at the department will help you find the right partner university and advise you on compatibility with your studies. A consultation should also be the first step in your application.

For organizational reasons, there is a deadline for Erasmus applications for the entire academic year, i.e. the winter semester and the summer semester of the following year. This deadline is usually at the end of January. Please also contact us if you have missed the deadline and would like to go abroad in the summer semester of the following year. This may still be possible.

The application runs via Mobility Online. You will need the following documents:

  • Application form
  • A letter of motivation, which can be written in German or English. The letter should be written in letter form. Please also mention your choice of university in the letter.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Current transcript of records
  • Documents on language skills, if applicable
  • Desired partner university and other preferences

The application process has two stages: first, the department decides on the application and allocates you to the universities. In a second step, the ISGS nominates you for the partner university. The partner university will then contact you. Please note that the partner university may require additional documents such as language certificates.

As part of the registration process at the partner university, we will conclude a Learning Agreement, which specifies which courses you will attend at the partner university and which you will receive credit for here. The Learning Agreement is signed by you, the department and the partner university. This agreement will be updated twice, during your stay and after your stay. This way, you can always be sure that the credits you complete abroad will also be credited here.
